Profiles of SSSVSS Gurus
Sri Sathya Sai Vedic Society, Singapore (SSSVSS) provides a range of Vedam classes, taught by experienced Gurus with a passion to share their knowledge. Our Gurus’ brief profiles are as follows.
Classes for Adults
Sri Anand Subramaniam
Sri Anand has joined SSSVSS to teach Astrology since July 2022. His interest in Astrology started at a young age, having come from a lineage of renowned devaprasnam astrologers from Kerala, in particular C.B. Lakshmanan alias Jolsiyan Lakshmanan, and furthered by study of works of eminent astrologers. He is a corporate finance consultant and entrepreneur.
Sri Vasanth Subramanian
Sri Vasanth started teaching Rudram classes for SSSVSS since Jul 2022. He is learning Krsna Yajur samhita under his Guru Sri Manjunatha who is based in Tiruvannamalai. He is also learning Veda Sakha from Sri Suresh in Singapore. Vasanth is teaching texts from Vedas for about 13 years now in Singapore.
His interest to understand meaning of Vedic texts has led him to pursue Sanskrit courses from Chittoor, India.
Sri Balaji Kalluri
Sri Balaji has been teaching online Rudram classes for SSSVSS since August 2020. Previously when he was based in Singapore, he actively supported SSSVSS events including Gayathri Maha Yagna and Nagarasankirthan. He is a Systems Engineer turned Urban Building Scientist with a doctorate in Building Science, currently based in India.
Sri Chandran Iyer
Based in the USA, Sri Chandran taught Vedam at various Sathya Sai Baba centres for several years. Since June 2020, he taught online classes on Rudram and Veda Suktham for SSSVSS. He studied Rudram and Suktham under the guidance of Sri Shankar Acharya at the esteemed Shankar Mutt at Bengaluru. He is currently a full-time Hindu Priest after a career in the hospitality industry.
Sri Ghajesh Subramanian
Sri Ghajesh learnt Rudram, Vedam and Suktham from the Sathya Sai Baba’s ashram in Prashanthi Nilayam in India. He taught Rudram classes for SSSVSS since June 2020. Following a post-graduate in Analytical Chemistry, he works as an engineer.
Sri Janardhan
Sri Janardhan has been teaching Vedic chants for Balavikas children at the various Sathya Sai Baba centres for several years. Since 2013, he has been actively involved with SSSVSS, initially organising Vedic chants for various events and subsequently setting up the Rudram classes for adults in 2018. He currently teaches Rudram and Rudra Pooja Vidhi. He has a doctorate in Material Science and works as a research professional.
Sri Karthik Balasubramanian
Sri Karthik has been teaching Suktham for many years, and at SSSVSS since September 2020. He studied Vedam in Mumbai, India and continued to deepen his knowledge after coming to Singapore. An MBA graduate, he works in the IT industry.
Smt Nirmala Subramani
Smt Nirmala has experience in teaching Devi Mahatmyam, Narayaneeyam, Sundara Kandam and Lalitha Sahasranamam. Since joining SSSVSS in August 2021, she has been teaching Durga Sapthasathi. She is an Economics post-graduate.
Sri Ramakrishnan Gopalan
Sri Ramakrishnan has been teaching Rudram classes since September 2021. He has four years of Vedam training in Singapore. He is an MBA graduate, working in the financial services industry.
Smt Sangeetha Jagan
Smt Sangeetha taught Veda Suktham classes for SSSVSS during June-August 2020. Prior to that, she was actively involved in organising and participating in the various SSSVSS events in 2015-18. She is an MBA graduate, working in the financial services industry, currently based in India.
Sri Sivakumar Gopalan
Sri Sivakumar has been teaching Rudram classes for SSSVSS since August 2020. He learnt Vedam under Sri T. V. Ramanathan at the esteemed Madras Sanskrit college. He is also an accomplished mridangam player who has performed in the past years for Carnatic musical performances. He is an engineer in the oil and gas industry.
Sri Sridhara Acharya
Based in the USA, Sri Sridhara has been teaching Sanskrit to children and adults since 1997. He studied Sanskrit at the renowned Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha at Bengaluru, India. He is a full-time Hindu priest.
Smt Uma Gururajan
Smt Uma has been teaching Shlokas since 2009. She has been instrumental in starting the Durga Sapthasathi classes with SSSVSS, and is one of the lead chanters for the various events.
Sri Uday Amirapu
Sri Uday has been teaching Suktham and Rudram with SSSVSS since June 2020. He learnt Vedam from the Sathya Sai Baba Varu in Prashanthi Nilayam in India, and has been teaching Rudram and Pancha Suktham online since 2020. An Economics post-graduate, he works in the financial services industry.
Classes for Children – Singapore
Smt Karpagam Viswanathan
Smt Karpagam is a SSSVSS Balavikas Guru since July 2021. Given her Carnatic music background, she teaches music and Saiva Thirumurai to students.
Smt Ramya Harish
Smt Ramya teaches music and bhajans to the SSSVSS Balavikas students since July 2019. She is a post-graduate and teaches Tamil language and Carnatic music.
Smt Sripriya Sridhar
Smt Sripriya has been teaching Balavikas for SSSVSS since June 2018. In addition, she teaches Shlokas, Durga Sapthasathi and Lalitha Sahasranamam. She is a lead chanter for the various SSSVSS events, and a member of the Durga Sapthasathi teaching team since 2020. She attended Balavikas programme, Gurus’ Training and Balavikas Training at the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation at Whitefield, India.
Sri Venkatraman Ramasubramanian
Sri Venkatraman has been teaching Vedam since 2000, having being initiated by his grandfather at the age of seven. Since 2021, he has been teaching Vedam to the Balavikas children.
